The following list is focused on providing support and maintenance for a Mac.

Task 6: Quality Control Check List
V Evaluate Current System
V Apple System Profiler
* Like Belarc or systeminfo
V Disk Utility
* SMART Status of the hard drives
V Repair Disk Permissions
V Automatically runs “Verify Disk Permissions”
* Checks for errors in the file permissions
* Repairs any errors
V Repair Disk
V Automatically runs “Verify Disk”
* Checks for errors with the disk catalog
* Repairs any errors
V Network Utility
* Information for each network interface
V troubleshooting tools
* netstat
* ping
* nslookup/dig
* traceroute
* whois
* finger
* port scan
V Console
* All the system logs
V Activity Monitor
* Like Task Manager
* Ask Customer to demonstrate the issue they are having
V Create a Change Log before beginning any work.
* Log changes as you go
* Back up really important files.
V Boot into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists

* Press the power button
* Hold the Shift Key as soon as you hear the start up tone
* Release the Shift Key when the grey Apple, and progress indicator appear
* Reset PRAM

* Run maintenance scripts if computer is not left on at night
* Run Software Update

V Run “Check for Updates” on regularly used applications
